Our Mission--Stop the War on Higher Education

COCAL-California is a coalition of activists from faculty organizations and unions representing contingent, non-tenured faculty members in all segments of higher education in California. Our goals are to coordinate activities to educate the public about the inequities of contingent faculty, to promote legislation focused on eliminating those inequities, and to improve bargaining rights, working conditions, and education standards.

Letter Writing to Protest Weber State University (Link)

COCAL-California is supporting contingent faculty at Weber State University. The university President has proposed to cut the contingent faculty salaries, but no other university group, by seven percent in order to address its budget crises.

This is unacceptable and discriminatory.

In response, John Hess has organized an email campaign to the president of the university to protest the proposal.
